At Royal Palm Tennis Club, we have many families where not only the adults enjoy playing tennis, but their children do as well. Miguel Valencia and his sister Antonia have been at our club since they could both hold a racket.
Miguel began in our tiny tots program and, bit by bit, has worked his way up through Eric Hechtman Tennis Academy. He has put in the hours on and off the court, building his game point by point, season by season. Just recently that work paid off in a big way: he won the Boys' 12 National Clay Courts, one of the most prestigious tournaments not only in the country but in the world.
The development of these players isn't only about how to hit a forehand or a backhand — it's also about learning to manage your emotions, and building discipline, work ethic, and a competitive spirit.
Teaching kids these values isn't only instrumental for their upbringing — it also makes Royal Palm an inviting place to be for young families.
Congratulations to Miguel and his family for entrusting Royal Palm — and Eric Hechtman Tennis Academy — to guide him on his way. I'm sure this is one step on his way to becoming a great champion.
— Eric
